A child prodigy in Habsburg Vienna, Erich Wolfgang Korngold was the musical sensation of Europe's opera houses and concert hall in the 1920s. Later, stranded in America by the rise of fascism in Europe, he found new fame and won Oscars as the inventor of the lush Hollywood film score.
