Claude Roc, a young Parisian and Anne Brown, a young Englishwoman, meet in Paris and soon become friends. Anne invites Claude to her home in Wales where he will meet Muriel, Anne's younger sister, to whom she destines Claude to marry. Eventually Claude proposes to Muriel, he is turned down but not wholeheartedly.
