Joe Orton's Entertaining Mr Sloane began its life as an experimental production at The Arts Theatre Club, London, in 1964. After a great deal of critical praise it transferred to London's West End, where despite some protests it played a long and extremely successful run.

Kath (Beryl Reid), a well matured blonde vaguely mourning her long-dead lover stumbles across a handsome stranger Mr Sloane (Peter McEnery) in a graveyard. Eyeing him lustfully, she offers to rent him a room in the mini gothic house which she shares with her Father "The Dadda" Kemp. The only cloud in Kath's potential idyll is her brother Ed (Harry Andrews), who also falls under the spell of Mr Sloane. Soon both Kath and Ed are competing for his favour but when he starts playing them off each other, things soon turn nasty and Mr Sloane finds himself in a very compromising position...
