The BAFTA winning first feature from writer-director Emily Young is an intimate and moving journey into the heart of a family. Helen (Ingeborga Dapkunaite) lives with her children and father in London and desperately awaits the return of her husband John (Peter Mullan), an aid worker who has long been absent in a war-torn part of Eastern Europe. Then one day, Helen is killed in a car accident. So begins a three-day odyssey involving the whole family: the children and their grandfather (David Warner), struggling with their loss; John, unaware of his wife's death, making the difficult journey home through dangerous terrain; and Helen herself, caught in the space between life and death. Featuring compelling performances from Dapkunaite and Mullan, this sensitively observed and powerful drama establishes Young as a remarkable new filmmaking talent.
