Saverio Costanzo's bold, harrowing and multi-award-winning film tells the compelling true story of a forced occupation imposed by armed Israeli forces on a Palestinian family whose house is located on the makeshift battleground between an Israeli settlement and an Arab village.
Following an intense gunfight, a small cadre of soldiers barricades itself inside a house belonging to Mohammed, an active pacifist, who wishes only the best for his family, his people and his nation. He refuses to let his family be ousted from their home, demanding their dignity be retained, even under the most extreme of circumstances. As an uneasy alliance forms between those who accept Mohammed's stance and those who act against it, painful divisions of fighter and family begin to spill from the house, mingling with the conflict raging in the streets.
A powerful and very human story that crosses cultural and national boundaries, 'Private' demands that you witness not the visible, public or political aspects of conflict, but instead the private, intimate side so often ignored.
