Columbus Short leads a spectacular cast of rising stars including Meagan Good, Def Jam Recording artist Shaffer "Ne-Yo" Smith, Darrin Henson. Brian White, Laz Alonso, Valarie Pettiford, Harry J. Lennix and introducing JIVE Recording artist Chris Brown.
DJ (Short), a troubled 19-year-old street dancer from Los Angeles goes on a quest for a new life by enrolling in Truth University, a historically Black college in Atlanta, Georgia. But his efforts to get an education and woo a beautiful co-ed are sidelined when he is courted by the top two campus fraternities, both of whom want and need his innovative, street-style dance moves to help win the highly-coveted National Step Show Championship. DJ must learn to stop dancing as an individual and start stepping as a team.
