Amid the frozen wildlands of Alaska, a broke travel agent comes up with an ingenious scheme to clear his debts. However, his plan is going to have to be pretty fool-proof to overcome the hapless, hopeless individuals standing between him and a life in the sun ...
Alaskan travel agent Paul Barnell (Robin Williams) is in trouble, but not nearly as deep as he is heading. Unable to convince the insurance company to pay off the one-million-dollar claim on his brother - who has been missing for five years - Paul's debts are mounting as fast as his life is crumbling.
So when Paul discovers a frozen corpse in a garbage bin, it seems only fair to claim the body as his missing brother, pay off his debts and leave Alaska for a new life somewhere much warmer.
His plan is almost perfect - except for the small matter of a crazy cantankerous wife (Holly Hunter), a tenacious insurance investigator Ted Watters, two inept hit-men (Tim Blake Nelson and Earl Brown) who want the body back - oh, and the appearance of his long-lost brother Raymond (Woody Harrelson)!
