Directed by Kim Ki-Duk (Bad Guy), The Isle tells the tale of Hee-Jin, the mute guardian of an isolated fishing isle, who spends her solitary existence selling bait to the fishermen by day and offering them her body by night.

When an ex-cop, on the run from committing a murder, arrives, Hee-Jin watches and is fascinated by his apparent loss of the will to live. After she prevents his suicide attempt, intimate feelings begin to flourish between them. Their relationship becomes obsessive, intense and all consuming as their fates become inextricably entwined.

Shocking, visceral and highly original, this visually arresting tale is Asia Extreme at its very best.
