In this retelling of the classic Greek myth Tiresia is a beautiful Brazilian transsexual, living illegally with her brother in Paris. Coveted by Terranova, a poet and an aesthete, he likens her to the perfect rose and so kidnaps her to keep as his own.
Deprived of her daily hormones Tiresia reverts before his very eyes, angered by his helplessness he blinds her and leaves her for dead in the countryside. Discovered and cared for by a countrygirl, Tiresia develops a gift for premonition and is persecuted by the parish priest as a result.
Directed by Bertrand Bonello (The Pornographer) using two actors in the lead role provides an insightful and uniquely modernised interpretation of the myth.
