Bomberman returns to his top-down roots in this recreation of his greatest bomb-fuelled moment.
Bomberman returns to his top-down roots in this recreation of his greatest bomb-fuelled moment.
Bomberman has been a part of the gaming landscape decades, but has gone through a number of reinventions over the years. Bomberman 2 on the Nintendo DS gives players the best of both worlds by taking the classic gameplay formula of older Bomberman titles and combining it with slick new visuals and redesigned characters. The top-down gameplay returns, where players must work to strategically place bombs around a grid-shaped map in an attempt to blow up other opponents, while avoiding other explosions and collecting valuable power ups. Little has changed when it comes to this gameplay, with the same sense of tension and excitement still in place.
Visually, the game has been given a much needed upgrade, with slick new neon, technological designs for each character and, with the use of the Nintendo DS’s dual screens, a far more approachable and simplified layout for each level.
Bomberman 2 keeps the traditional Bomberman formula players know and love, while giving the title’s visuals a much needed upgrade along the way.
