Narrated by the teenage Cassandra, who chronicles in her diary the life of her eccentric family living in a castle in 1930's England. When two young, rich American men inherit the crumbling estate on which they live, Cassandra begins to understand the complexity of her family's relationships and the bitter-sweet taste of first love.
With magnificent performances from Tara Fitzgerald, and Bill Nighy alongside Henry Thomas, Marc Blucas, Sinead Cusack and newcomer Romaloa Garai, the film was a hugely successful British box office hit.
